POSITION TITLE: Southside Elementary and Allen Elementary School Counselot
QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper certification through the Arkansas Department of Education
REPORTS TO: Allen Elementary and Southside Elementary Principal
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as a leader in the school and community to advocate and support student success.
- Assist students in academic achievement, introduction to careers and personal/social development.
- Provide individual counseling, group counseling and classroom guidance lessons.
- Work with staff to promote an understanding of human development theories and developmental issues affecting student success.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, community members and other stakeholders to promote and support student success.
- Develop and utilize materials and instructional strategies to meet students’ needs and school goals.
- Refer families to appropriate community agencies and assist with finding resources as needed.
- Analyze data to determine program effectiveness and identify program needs.
- Promote the district’s and school’s vision and mission.
- Keep accurate record of all counseling and guidance activities.
- Inform administration of various students’ needs.
- Collaborate with other building counselors regarding student needs.
- Protect the confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with state laws and Board policies.
