Qualifications            

Applicants must have a current Arkansas District-Level Administrator License.  Applicants must possess effective leadership skills, with a proven background of experiences at the building and/or district level. At least five years administrative experience is required.  Both building-level (principal) and district-level administrator experience is preferred.

Job Goal                    

The Assistant Superintendent of Operations is responsible for all aspects of the district’s operation on a daily basis.  Major responsibilities include supervision of all support service departments (maintenance, food service, technology, transportation, SRO liaison, and nursing departments) as well as oversight of facility planning and construction.  Additional responsibilities include policy development and revision, student and employee discipline, effective community relations, district safety procedures and protocols, and other duties as assigned by the superintendent.

 

Specific Job Duties/Requirements: 

 

Instructional Leadership

  • Serve as a member of the District Leadership Team (DLT) team which provides leadership in all aspects of curriculum and instruction across the district
  • Lead and serve on interview committees as requested by the superintendent
  • Work collaboratively with district leadership and building principals to help provide professional development
  • Work with DLT team to create and implement improvement plans for certified staff as needed
  • Coordinate with DLT, principals, and technology department to implement ongoing training for technology integration
  • Remain current on evidence-based instructional practices and provide a progressive vision for education within the district  

 

Managing and Leading Staff

  • Lead and evaluate support services’ administrative staff including the directors of technology, transportation, food services, nursing services, custodial, and maintenance
  • Praise, coach, and discipline staff when warranted/needed
  • Promote and grow leadership amongst staff
  • Establish and model high expectations through leadership style

 

Budget

  • Collaborate with support service department directors to develop and manage their budgets in conjunction with district CFO and superintendent
  • Monitor staff attendance through Frontline software and approve leave based on district policy
  • Collaborate with district administration to ascertain staffing needs

 

District Culture

  • Establish and develop a culture of communication and collaboration
  • Work to build relationships with all employees throughout the district
  • Establish a culture that sets high expectations and promotes excellence
  • Establish and model exemplary standards of professional behavior
  • Promote the district’s mission and vision through presentations, words, and actions
  • Establish and implement strategies to ensure smooth transitions between buildings

 

Parent/Community Involvement

  • Seek ways to involve parents in our district
  • Promote school activities in the community and seek to establish partnerships and positive working relationships with community organizations 
  • Support and attend school programs and events

 

Communication

  • Maintain open channels of communication with principals, supervisors, and district-level directors
  • Understand and promote district policies and initiatives to employees, parents, and community
  • Maintain regular, direct communication with the superintendent concerning current issues and opportunities with respect to the operations of the district
  • Oversee preparation and timely submission of necessary ADE reports
  • Operate as part of the district administration team by supporting district initiatives
  • Address School Board and staff as needed
  • Make sure to regularly communicate with the superintendent about all things necessary
