Job Title Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA)
Qualifications Licensed teacher in special education or related field with
above average working knowledge of Special Education
Automated Software (SEAS) program; must possess an
understanding and working knowledge of the Special
Education and Related Services procedural requirements
and program standards (IDEA); must be able to work
closely with a variety of staff, parents, and other
stakeholders
Contract 200 days
Evaluator Special Education Supervisor
Job Goal The Special Education TOSA will work with and direct
special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and other
team members to determine appropriate special education
and related services for identified students. The TOSA
must be able to facilitate special education conferences,
follow and meet timelines for due process procedures, and
assist the LEA with other duties as assigned.
Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Determine and maintain spreadsheets of data for identified students with disabilities
- Set referral, evaluation, and transfer conference dates and times with parents and team of providers for all students with disabilities
- Maintain timeline requirements for all conferences
- Attend and present professional development trainings as determined necessary by LEA
- Complete due process documents as appropriate for all due process meetings/conferences
- Meet with teams of teachers, parents, administrators, and other service providers as necessary to assist with provision of special education services or related services
- Other duties as assigned may include: assist with Alternate Portfolio Assessments development/training/timelines; assist with behavior and academic intervention teams as needed; perform screening and other diagnostic evaluations
