Position Summary

The Permanent Guest Teacher provides reliable instructional support by filling in for absent teachers on a daily basis. This role ensures continuity of learning, maintains a positive classroom environment, and supports the academic mission of the district. Permanent Guest Teachers are assigned to a home school (or group of schools) and must be available to cover immediate instructional needs as they arise throughout the day.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Report to the assigned school each day and be ready to cover classes as needed, including last-minute or same-day assignments.
• Provide instruction following lesson plans prepared by the classroom teacher.
• Maintain classroom management, discipline, and a safe learning environment.
• Adapt quickly to different grade levels, subject areas, and student needs.
• Collaborate with school staff to support student learning and classroom operations.
• Take attendance, supervise students, and follow school policies and procedures.
• Report student progress, behavior, and incidents to the appropriate staff.
• When not assigned to a classroom, assist with school-wide duties (e.g., small group support, hall or lunch supervision, clerical support).

 

Qualifications

• Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s Degree preferred).
• Prior experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Flexibility and adaptability to work across multiple grade levels and subjects.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.

• Follows the district academic calendar.
• Full-time position with daily reporting to the assigned school.
• Annual Salary and benefits according to the district’s guest teacher pay scale.
