POSITION TITLE:  Occupational Therapist

 

QUALIFICATIONS:       

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  190 days per the Teacher's Work Calendar.  Salary and work calendar to be established by the Board of Education. Benefits according to the Teacher's Agreement.

 

REPORTS TO:  Director of Special Education (LEA) / Assistant Director of Special Education

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:         

 

Occupational Therapist to work with students grades K-12 identified with disabilities. The OT will evaluate and work with students to help them meet goals to develop, improve, and maintain skills needed for daily living and working.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  1. Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine students’ needs and develop individualized education plans (IEP)
  2. Provide occupational therapy interventions to improve students’ functional abilities and independence
  3. Collaborate with other professionals, such as speech therapists and case managers, to coordinate student programming needs
  4. Monitor and document students’ progress and amend IEPs as necessary
  5. Educate students and their families on therapeutic techniques and strategies for maximizing independence
  6. Participate in in-service and teacher training provided by the district.
  7. Assisting with transition planning for students in high school who need a plan to transition to life after high school.
